Week 2 has gone by very fast. This chapter has a lot of information in it. There are 2 very important theories that are very popular in education as well as in psychology - Piaget and Vygotsky. Since we have not learned about Vygotsky yet, let us focus on Piaget first. For each theory there are very important concepts that we need to pay careful attention to. In most of the literature written about Piaget's work, 3 very important concepts are named and described. They are:
1. Assimilation
2. Accomodation
3. Equilibration
Pick a child you know - your relative, a cousin, etc. and try to remember the behaviors you have seen. For each concept, explain it in your own words and provide an example.
I know this requires some thinking but my aim is to get you guys to be good writers. Think and then write Ok! Have fun!

Week 1 - Educational Psychology & Teacher Decision Making
We looked at quite a few issues in class this week. Primarily, I talked about expectations in class and for the subject. I believe that students can do well if they want to and it is not whether the subject is tough. I would you all of you to respond to the following issues highlighted by Ormrod in the 1st chapter of the text:
Developing as a Teacher
—Continue to take courses in teacher education
—Learn as much as you can about your subject
—Increase your pedagogical content knowledge
—Continue to reflect and critically examine your own beliefs and assumptions
—Believe that you can make a difference in students’ lives (self-efficacy)
—Learn as much as you can about the culture(s) of the community in which you are teaching
Question:
What is the one important learning objective you can work on for this subject? Please describe your answer with examples.
Also: I will be getting the photocopy center at A Block to print the articles for the class because I was told that they are more reliable.
Favor: Please let your classmates know about this change.
I would like all students to post their comments by Thursday May 14.
TQ

Welcome EdPsy Students!
Hello Everybody
One of the key requirements for this class is to allow reflective thinking to take place! The purpose of creating this blog is to provide opportunities to every single student in my class to share his/her views regarding issues studied in class for the week. Please use this space in a judicious manner! Make it a point to interact with me, your peers, and with yourself (just don't talk to yourself too much in class - I may think otherwise) either in class or through this blog. Respond to questions or raise questions!
We will have fun learning important and relevant issues related to Educational Psychology.
